What is the legality of selling/distributing a musical cover?

My band does a cover of sandstorm by darude, and as we get more shows and prepare to release an album via cdbaby, we're wondering what we are and are not allowed to do with our cover. Is it legal for us to sell it? perform it? perform for money? distribute it freely?
